Purple Carrot Market

What is the Purple Carrot Market?

We're opening a full-service, community-owned grocery store in Little Falls' historic downtown sourcing food from local farms and food entrepreneurs and returning profits to our local owners.

As an owner, you and more than 700 residents across our area will have the say in our products, programs, classes, and governance.  And while you won't need to be an owner to shop in our store, purchasing a one-time, affordable share opens up great owner benefits to you and your family.

Grow, Fund, Build

Did you know that 70% of food co-ops are still thriving after 5 years in business?  Just 1 in 3 small businesses can say the same.  So what's the co-op secret?  GROW, FUND, BUILD.

We GROW our Ownership base – almost 600 eager, invested Owner shoppers – before we ever open our doors. We FUND with a capital campaign that supplements bank funds and ensures that we thrive on Day 1 and Day 1,000. And we BUILD a store located and sized to give us the best chance of success.

Community Meeting - Monday, October 29  7:00 - 8: 00 Pm

Community Invited to Meeting

On Tuesday, October 29, the Purple Carrot Market board welcomes all community members to a meeting discussing progress on opening a local consumer food co-op in downtown Little Falls.  The meeting will be held at Sprout which is located in the former Crestliner Building (609 13th Ave NE, Door 8).  From 7:00 – 8:00 pm, the board will take input on the preliminary store design, give an update on ownership and organizational issues, and answer questions.

Community members interested in learning more about becoming a Purple Carrot Market owner are strongly encouraged to attend as building ownership is the key factor in determining when the grocery store will open in the Victor Mall location.
